The
Lions Association was started in 1917 and is the largest Service Club in the
world with over 1.4 million members.
Lions
International headquarters is located in Oak Brook Illinois.
The
structure is made up of local clubs like Paris, Zones, Regions, Districts, Multiple
Districts and Lions International head quarters.
Our
local club Board of Directors comprises a President, Past President, 3 Vice
Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, 6 Directors, Lion Tamer, Tail Twister and a
Bulletin Editor, and the general membership.
There
are various committees such as Health and Welfare, Diabetes, Guide Dogs, Sight
First, just to name a few.
We meet
1st & 3rd Tuesdays each month from September through
June. We do not meet in July or August.
Major
Fund Raiser: Food Wagon
Teams:
the club is made up of 4 teams who are required to work shifts usually 3.5 to
4.00 hours at various events and locations
Lions
Year: July 1 to June 30
The
purpose of a Lions Club is to raise funds to be able to assist those less
fortunate.
A lot of
work goes into a Lions Club but the reward is immeasurable. A lot of fun and
fellowship goes without saying. We have lots of fun.
A Lions OBLIGATIONS
is:
1.
Attend meetings regularly
2.
Attend assigned shifts on food
wagon
3.
Pay annual Dues promptly
4.
Promote Lionism to yours
friends, neighbours and relatives encouraging them to join the Lions Club to
provide Service to those less fortunate locally and around the world.
